Import an audio file into Memo
Updated 3 September 2026
Memo can process recordings you already have, not only the ones it records.
From another app
- Open the recording in the app that has it, for example Voice Memos, Files, Mail or a messaging app.
- Tap Share and choose Memo in the share sheet. Memo appears for MP3, M4A and WAV files.
- Pick the engine. Memo imports the file and produces the transcript, summary and title.
From inside Memo
- Tap the plus button.
- Choose Upload Audio and pick the file.
Engine and audio
With On-device AI the file stays on your iPhone. With Cloud AI the file is uploaded to Memo’s servers, and the app asks before the upload. Cloud AI on the free tier accepts recordings up to 30 minutes, with a daily allowance; Memo Pro lifts both limits.
